Air Sealing

We all hate air escaping our homes or unwanted air coming into them. You might think there is nothing that can be done about that but there is. To learn more about what exactly air leakage is and what can be done about it through air sealing click here.

Insulation

Having a home where you’re constantly having to play with the thermostat is a bit frustrating. Or maybe you’re struggling with high bills? Chances are, if you struggle with either of these things, insulation (or rather, a lack thereof) may be your problem.

Exhaust Fans

Summer is just too hot, and winter is just too cold. If you’re anything like us,
you might feel like you and Mother Nature are never on the same page. Lucky, we
have heaters and air conditioners to help us out in our times of need.

LED Light Bulbs

Electric bill a little high? Taking up too much energy? One idea to cut down your electric bill is to switch to LED lights. While the cost to buy LED lights may be overwhelming initially, you generally have to replace them less, which saves lots of money. They also use less energy, but burn just as bright (if not, brighter) than the usual incandescent lights.

Cleaning Supplies

I’m sure that all of us like to keep our homes clean and shining. Even if you aren’t a “clean-freak”, it always feels nice to have a freshly cleaned house. What we don’t always realize is that the cleaning supplies we are using aren’t always eco-friendly and can sometimes have toxic side effects. Many brands have come out with “green” cleaning supplies and are sold at local super markets. If you don’t want to go for the name brand cleaners, you can always make your own. Many DIY sites suggest using vinegar or baking soda mixed with water as an all around cleaning product.

Appliances

We all want our homes to be as healthy as they can be. One of the best ways to begin to make your home greener is to start in your kitchen.  Not only can you fill the kitchen with green foods, you can use green cleaning products that don’t use toxic chemicals, utensils, and most importantly, appliances made from sustainable materials. ecoRehab chose to make each one of their homes filled with energy efficient appliances such as, dishwashers, microwaves, ovens, refrigerators, and other small appliances. These small changes in the kitchen save money and energy, and it’s recommended that everyone put energy efficient appliances in their homes.
